EasyJet's Classic Livery: A Look Back at Gatwick's "Orange Airport"

Many may not remember, but EasyJet's aircraft used to sport a vibrant orange and white livery. These pictures, taken at Gatwick Airport between 2016 and 2018, capture that era. The airline has since transitioned to a new design, but the classic orange scheme holds a special place in my photo collection.

Gatwick Airport even earned the nickname "the orange airport" due to EasyJet's dominance. It's a reminder of how quickly things change in aviation. Here, we see several aircraft in the old livery, some of which have likely been stored, scrapped or repainted by now.

This post serves as a reminder to capture those fleeting moments. While the weather may not be ideal today, putting off photography can lead to missed opportunities.

Looking back on my 50+ years of photography, I started with a simple Kodak Brownie. It wasn't fancy, but it sparked a lifelong passion. Now, in my 60s, I'm revisiting this love and sometimes wonder about I should have taken an alternative paths, like pursuing photography as a career. But hindsight is always 20/20, right?

I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into EasyJet's past at Gatwick.

Let me know your thoughts on the comments below, and feel free to follow our new blog for more aviation content.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for future posts!

British Airways Boeing 777 at London Gatwick & Aviation Photos

Today I spent a hour at London Gatwick. Time was not on my side today but had to pop up and see the NEW livery Emirates A380 arrive. I have posted some photos below for you to see. The video is very short so these photos will be better to look at. I do enjoy taking a photograph and have done so for over 50 years.

The Inflight 200 Canada Air Force Airbus CC-330 Husky (A330-200) 330003 Scale 1/200 IF332RCAF02

About this post

Below is a detailed overview of a Inflight 200 model aircraft. At the base of this post you will see a model that has already been released. These are simply superb and people do not realizes how good they actually are.

The Inflight 200 Canada Air Force Airbus CC-330 Husky (A330-200) 330003 Scale 1/200 IF332RCAF02

This is a diecast airplane model in 1/200 scale that replicates a Royal Canadian Air Force Airbus CC-330 Husky, a military transport variant of the Airbus A330-200 passenger jet. Here's a breakdown of its features:

  • Scale: 1/200, meaning every 1 unit on the model is equivalent to 200 units on the real aircraft.
  • Manufacturer: Inflight 200
  • Aircraft: Airbus CC-330 Husky (military variant of A330-200)
  • Airline/Military: Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF)
  • Registration Number: 330003
  • Material: Diecast metal for durability and a realistic feel.
  • Details: Highly detailed with accurate markings, specific to the Royal Canadian Air Force CC-330 Husky variant. This includes specific decals, antennas, and other elements that distinguish it from a standard A330-200.
  • Pre-Painted: It is pre-painted in the Royal Canadian Air Force livery, featuring the correct colors and markings.
  • Landing Gear: Includes landing gear that can be positioned for landing configuration.
  • Rolling Gears: It has rolling rubber tires on the landing gear, allowing collectors to taxi the model on a flat surface for a more interactive experience. However is not a toy and should not be played with.
  • Display Stand: The model includes a display stand for convenient presentation on a shelf or in a collection.

Overall:

This model would be a great addition for collectors interested in the Royal Canadian Air Force, military aircraft, Airbus CC-330 Husky or A330-200 aircraft, or 1/200 scale airplane models in general.

SPOTTING AT LONDON GATWICK "YOU NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO GO"

Over the next few months I am going to share with you the places I go spotting. I been coming up to the airport since the 1960's. I started going up on my own in 1973 once I had passed my cycling proficient at the age of 15. There was a group of us and we all fly up there on our bikes.

There are lots of place to go which are on the landside of the airport. They are public paces and not infringing on private or airport land.

I am very well known to the police all be it a lot of my old airport security and police friends have retired. Some of the new ones do talk to me and are never rude or proactive to move you on. The last guy was also a spotter but worked inside the airport normally.

This is Prestwood lane I tell you more on a future post. There lost of wild life around here as well. So when there no planes there are plenty of birds, foxes, and farm animals to take photos of.

This kind of photo is good with a camera lenes of 300m to 600m. It takes over 15 minutes to walk here from the nearest parking spot.

Go around are great for me but not the passenger. Gatwick is well know for many go arounds. They fly over my house as well. Not good early in the morning as the noise is very loud, who needs an alarm.

I do love going up to Gatwick when there a special plane landing. Being three miles away it is very easy for me. This Qantas was early doors and I was up at 5:30am. It arrived at around 7:10am and did a go around first.

Please follow our blog and I love to read any comments or question you may have. This is me and my dog Dougie. Happy spotting till next time. Our website is Airspotters.com if you like model aircraft.

JC Wings Volotea Boeing 717-200 EC-MGS Scale 1/200 LH2381

JC Wings Volotea Boeing 717-200 EC-MGS Scale 1/200 LH2381

This is a model that was down to be released in 2022. It was never released and we had many orders for this model, they of course were cancelled. Now we find the model is coming back and is due to be relased in August 2024 by JC Wings. This is a 1/200 scale. This means for those that do not know, the model is two hundred times smaller than the real aircraft. It is of course diecast and as you can see from the photos it comes with a stand as well. If you were one of the customers that order this before then we are happy to retake your model order.

I took this photo in 2018 on the Greek island of Zante. A very dirty and tired looking 717.

The Boeing 717-200 is no longer in production, but Volotea was one of the few airlines still flying the type in Europe. The aircraft is known for its fuel efficiency and performance on short and medium-haul routes.
